VIP Days

    • VIP Days are formal invitations to any very important person in a child’s life. Although parents can visit their child’s classroom at any time, VIP Days are especially set aside for our families. VIPs are invited to join in the learning experience, have lunch in the cafeteria, and hang out during recess.

    • Parents are invited to participate in choice sessions that focus on how to support their child in the area of reading fluency, foundational reading skills, accelerating reading skills, writing, and understanding reading assessments (unit test, MAP, and MCAP).
  • Math Night

    Tuesday, February 11, 2020


    • Parents are invited to participate in choice sessions that focus on how to support their child in the area of math fluency, foundational math skills, solving real world problems, math literacy, accelerating student mathematical comprehension, and understanding math assessments (unit test, MAP, and MCAP).

      Parent Learning Workshops (PLW)

    • Focus: 4th & 5th Grade Math Regrouping
      • Audience: All parents or guardians of fourth and fifth grade students.

    • The purpose of the Parent Learning Workshop (PLW) is to provide parents with purposeful information, meaningful activities, and opportunities to engage administration and staff members in discussions about the identified monthly topic. RSVPs will be sent in order to determine how many breakfast and dinners to order for each session.

      • Quarterly Parent Voice meetings are opportunities for parents to discuss any topics pertaining to the school that they would like to share with administration. If appropriate, these meetings are also used to share any system-wide initiatives or updates that will impact the Dogwood community.

    • All D.P.A.T meetings will be offered at the choice session of 9:00am-10:30am or 6:00pm-7:30pm
    • The purpose of the D.P.A.T. meeting is gather the voice of the parent. The meeting will need at least 2-3 representatives per grade level in order to receive input from across all grade levels. During each meeting we will review, discuss, and offer feedback for the 2019-2020 School Progress Plan (SPP); collective input on academic instruction; discuss social-emotional supports; monitor spending per the 2019-2020 Title I budget information, and the impact of parent engagement events, etc.
