The mission of the Dogwood PTA is:

  • To encourage parent and community involvement in the school to ensure the safety and welfare of our children and promote an environment conducive to learning

  • To promote awareness of the quality of life in our Dogwood family regardless of a person’s race, creed or sex so that our children grow to be positive productive citizens in society

Why PTA?

Being a member of Dogwood Elementary PTA allows me to be a part of the National PTA, which is one of the largest child advocacy organizations.

Being a member of PTA can provide a unified attack on major issues if needed, a unified push to improve legislation, an opportunity to provide public forums for ideas, and a chance to meet with others to share or discuss concerns.  PTA allows us to speak for ALL children in ALL parts of the state and nation as one voice.  PTA work is directed to anything involving the lives of children--school, home, community, family or peers. We care what influences and molds children's attitudes and behavior.

Being a member of PTA gets you access to information local groups do not have.

What does the PTA do?

PTA provides parents and teachers with a way to share their experience and knowledge about children. PTA members support public education and work to improve children's health and safety. PTAs speak on behalf of children--who can't effect change for themselves--at local, state and national government levels.  PTA encourages parent involvement.

Who belongs to the PTA?

Parents, teachers, grandparents, high school students, school officials, business people, retirees, couples with infants, single people, couples without children--everyone who cares about children can belong to the PTA.

What does it cost?

Dogwood PTA dues are seven dollars ($7.00).  PTA dues along with other fundraising events are used to help offset the costs that parents would normally have to bear.  The PTA provides funds for the agenda books, fifth grade farewell, food for spring fair, photographer for Variety show, etc.  The funds raised also go towards National and State Dues, PTA Counsel dues, Liability and Bonding Insurance, Directors and Officers Insurance.

Thank you for your continued support.
